POSH in 2026: Why Workplace Safety Must Move Beyond Compliance

Workplace safety is increasingly being viewed as more than a policy document or an annual training requirement. In 2026, there is renewed attention in India on strengthening the implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, commonly known as the POSH Act.

In June 2026, the National Commission for Women (NCW) issued an advisory to States and Union Territories calling for stronger implementation of the POSH framework. The advisory included recommendations around workplace audits, monitoring mechanisms and effective functioning of Internal Committees.

The Government has also continued to strengthen technology-enabled mechanisms. The Ministry of Women & Child Development highlighted SHe-Box 2.0 as a digital platform intended to provide a single-window mechanism for registering and tracking workplace sexual-harassment complaints.

In July 2026, the National Commission for Women conducted a national awareness programme focused on POSH implementation, including inquiry procedures, privacy, fairness and the responsibilities of Internal and Local Committees.

From Compliance to Workplace Culture

For HR teams, these developments highlight an important distinction: having a POSH policy and conducting training are important, but organizations also need employees to understand the policy, know how to seek support, and recognize appropriate workplace behaviour.

A meaningful POSH program can therefore include:

  • Employee awareness and sensitisation

  • Internal Committee capacity building

  • Clear reporting mechanisms

  • Understanding employee rights and responsibilities

  • Scenario-based learning

  • Confidentiality awareness

  • Digital assessments

  • Training participation and completion tracking

  • Periodic review and improvement

Why Measurement Matters

Traditional training programs often end when the session is completed. However, organizations can gain greater visibility by measuring what happened after the session.

For example, HR can track:

Participation → Assessment → Awareness → Insights → Action

Digital assessments can help identify knowledge gaps, while aggregated reporting can provide HR with visibility across departments, locations or employee groups.

This does not replace the organization's statutory responsibilities or the role of the Internal Committee. Instead, it can provide an additional layer of learning measurement and organizational insight.

Building a Safer Workplace

At Secure Place™ , we believe workplace safety should be a continuous organizational capability rather than a once-a-year activity.

Our approach brings together POSH awareness, ICC training, CPR & First Aid, Fire Safety, Stress Management, Ergonomics and Workplace Wellness through a technology-enabled ecosystem.

Organizations can conduct expert-led programs, engage employees through assessments, track participation, issue certificates and generate structured analytics.

The objective is simple: help organizations understand not only whether training was conducted, but also what employees learned and where further attention may be needed.

The Future of Workplace Safety

As workplace expectations evolve, organizations are increasingly looking at safety and wellbeing through a broader lens - combining compliance, employee experience, preparedness and measurable outcomes.

The 2026 focus on strengthening POSH implementation is another reminder that workplace safety requires ongoing awareness, responsible processes and organizational accountability.

The question for HR is no longer only:

“Have we conducted our POSH training?”

It can also be:

“What did our employees learn, how engaged were they, and how are we measuring progress?”

That is where technology and data can help turn workplace safety from a compliance activity into a measurable employee-centric capability.
